Restoration work on Niagara Road is due to begin next week<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A project to restore Niagara Road at Boyneside is due to begin next Monday (August 24).<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council’s 2020-21 Budget allocated $4 million for the project.<\/p>\n

To minimise disruption, Council will undertake flood damage repairs and drainage construction works between the Bunya Highway and Jarail Road intersection at the same time.<\/p>\n

The restoration of the road follows the completion of construction at the nearby Coopers Gap wind farm site.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The roadworks are part of a $6.7 million agreement struck between the South Burnett Regional Council and AGL in 2018.<\/p>\n

Under that agreement, Council agreed to convert a 13km section of Niagara Road between the Bunya Highway and Jarail Road, which formerly had a single lane bitumen seal, into a six metre wide, unsealed road for the wind farm\u2019s construction phase.<\/p>\n

After the construction phase, the road was to be given a four metre wide bitumen seal.<\/p>\n

AGL agreed to cover the cost of the project with Council carrying out all roadworks.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to provide a safe work environment during the restoration works, through traffic will be controlled by signage or traffic control with some minor delays expected.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said local residents may also have their property access restricted for short periods, but they would be notified of this in advance by the onsite supervisor.<\/p>\n
