Several runners at the recent Nanango fixture have since improved their incomes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Topping the list is Glenn Richardson\u2019s charge Fury Of The Storm. <\/p>\n

The Snitzel gelding ran fourth on August 1 when resuming on his home track after a useful spell. <\/p>\n

On that day his stablemates – Eight Over and Brigalow Queen – saluted for Nanango\u2019s premier jockey Hannah Richardson and Senko Sidra prevailed for Leeanne McCoy. <\/p>\n

Ten days later at Rockhampton, after being hampered when the barriers at the 1200 metres opened, Fury Of The Storm (Hannah Richardson, $10) shed his maiden tag and picked up $9450 by running on powerfully from mid-field.<\/p>\n

The lightly raced cuddy, a $130,000 yearling purchase by Darby Racing and De Burgh Equine at the 2017 Inglis Classic Sale, was originally prepared by Gary Portelli at Warwick Farm.<\/p>\n

The bay\u2019s dam El Pauji was a daughter of Flying Spur, who was smart enough to score at Flemington, Sandown, Morphettville and Geelong. <\/p>\n

Four placings in black type company helped boost her earnings beyond $350,000.<\/p>\n

Fury Of The Storm did not debut until the summer of his juvenile year in 2018. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In his brief winter campaign at Gosford and Newcastle, he managed three placing and a fourth from his only outings.<\/p>\n

Although that was an encouraging interlude, all but one owner sacked him after his three unplaced outings in his summer sortie in 2019.<\/p>\n

Nanango conditioner Glenn Richardson has saddled up the now five-year-old 15 times since May 2019 for a 1-3-3-2 formline that includes a sterling fourth over 2200m at Caloundra.<\/p>\n

Fury Of The Storm\u2019s present ownership consists of the well known Kingaroy turf identity Dexter Sullivan, his partner Denise Scriven, Port Campbell dairy farmer Michael Hunt and Peter Weston, an original syndicate member who resides near Ipswich. <\/p>\n

Sadly, Eric Fraser, the team\u2019s 90 year-old player, had passed away before the breakthrough success at Rockhampton. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, other competitors from the Nanango card to flourish subsequently include Crafty Aquila, a Chinchilla winner for Leeanne McCoy and Telloff, the Bon Hoffa mare that scored comfortably at Gladstone for the Barry and Hannah Phillips side.<\/p>\n

The Harry Richardson trained Supervisor and Stephanie Lacy, a unit that was a strong second at Nanango, atoned with a victory at Kilcoy on August 16. <\/p>\n

At the same meeting Resonare and Airlie Man – a pair that were unplaced at Lee Park – filled a quinella.<\/p>\n

Overcoming Difficulties<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If something goes amiss in a race, it is best that it doesn\u2019t happen during the final thrust in a desperately close tussle.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The stewards report for the finale at Nanango reads as follows: <\/p>\n

Approaching the finish line, rider Stephanie Lacy (on Gratsie for Harry Richardson) momentarily lost the use of her near side rein resulting in her becoming unbalanced for a short distance. The margin over the defiant leader Gambit was a half head.<\/em><\/p>\n

Female hoops scooped the pool at Lee Park. <\/p>\n

No doubt many of them will be back to the course on Saturday, September 12 when the $10,250 Nanango Cup (1600m) for the open handicappers will hold pride of place.<\/p>\n
