Applications will open on Friday for apprenticeships next year at Ergon Energy and Energex.<\/p>\n

Energy Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said the corporations would be welcoming 86 apprentices with openings at depots from Far North Queensland to the Gold Coast and west to Mt Isa and Longreach.<\/p>\n

Some of the positions available include electrotechnology electricians, linespeople and underground cable jointers.<\/p>\n

Dr Lynham said the apprentices would be joining the electricity industry at an exciting time.<\/p>\n

\u201cQueensland\u2019s renewable revolution is full steam ahead with almost 6700MW of renewable energy generation capacity either operational and committed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the next generation of energy workers who will have the skills to support Queensland\u2019s ongoing transition to a renewable future.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis year has really driven home the importance of having world-class skills and resources within our own communities, and that\u2019s what these apprenticeships offer.<\/p>\n

Successful applicants will undertake training for an initial four-week block in early 2021 before heading to their home depots to begin their careers in the field.<\/p>\n
