COVID-19 may have derailed this year’s BaconFest but festival organisers want to make sure fans don’t miss out on their annual “pig” fix.<\/p>\n

The festival was to be held this weekend (August 21-23) before the pandemic came along.<\/p>\n

Organisers have now organised a string of virtual events on Facebook<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Events planned for this weekend include a BaconFest Pin-Up Pageant and Beard of BaconFest competition, sponsored by Schuey Brothers Drilling.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve received some crackling entries for both competitions and we\u2019d love as many punters as possible to hop on our Facebook site during the BaconFest weekend and vote on their favourites before winners are announced on August 26-27,” chief baconeer Kristy Board said<\/p>\n

Another Facebook competition is aimed at bacon lovers who own a 2018 or 2019 Kingaroy BaconFest or BaconMan shirt.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want fans of the festival to send as a photo of themselves, wearing the BaconFest or BaconMan shirt, in an identifiable location,\u201d Kristy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA prize will be awarded for the T-shirt that\u2019s travelled the furthest distance from Kingaroy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Other virtual events include a Bacon Flip Challenge with Damien Martoo (The Martoo Review), breakfast competition supported by Roberta Schablon (The Saucy Fork), and the launch of a new Taste the Bacon Trail video by Ford on Food, Torkit Solutions and Nancy Jayde Photography.<\/p>\n

Festival sponsor SunPork Fresh Foods has also joined forces with the Little Butcher in Kingaroy to create Bacon Boxes featuring Maple Bacon and BBQ Bourbon Bacon.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than half these boxes have now been sold so if you want one, you\u2019ll need to be faster than a greasy pig,\u201d Kristy said.<\/p>\n

The boxes can be ordered\u00a0online<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>before Wednesday\u00a0(August 19) and will be\u00a0available for pick up in Kingaroy on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Also available to buy online<\/a> <\/strong>is a new\u00a0BaconMan shirt featuring the slogan, “Laying Low During the 2020 Hamdemic\u2019”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
