Toowoomba Regional Council\u2019s Environment and Community Services Committee has recommended the adoption of a new Biosecurity Plan for Invasive Plants and Animals.<\/p>\n

The new plan reflects significant recent legislative changes in the management of Invasive Plants and Animals.<\/p>\n

Cr Tim McMahon said the new Biosecurity Plan would guide the management of invasive plants and animals in the Toowoomba Region.<\/p>\n

\u201cBiosecurity is a national issue that Council manages locally,” Cr McMahon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA significant part of this new plan is to build stronger ties with neighbouring councils (so) invasive plant and animal challenges can be tackled at a regional level.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Plan has been drafted in consultation with Council\u2019s Biosecurity Advisory Committee and accounts for local government\u2019s responsibilities under the Queensland Biosecurity Act 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe recommedation to adopt the new Biosecurity Plan will be presented for approval at Council\u2019s Ordinary Meeting on August 18.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
