Opposition Leader and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has slammed the actions of two people arrested in Nanango on Tuesday after allegedly lying on their border declaration forms.<\/p>\n

The pair, a 68-year-old woman and 63-year-old man, allegedly crossed the border at Goondiwindi on July 27 before heading to Nanango.<\/p>\n

“People who make false declarations are risking the lives and livelihoods of Queenslanders,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s completely unacceptable that these people have broken the rules and put our South Burnett community at risk.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The LNP supports stronger action on borders to protect communities like the South Burnett and keep people safe. We can\u2019t risk a second wave.<\/p>\n

“Yesterday I called for mandatory maximum penalties for those who deliberately break the rules to keep Queenslanders safe.<\/p>\n

“In recent weeks it has become clear that the Palaszczuk Labor Government\u2019s honour system at the border was not working.<\/p>\n

“The gaps in enforcement have put Queenslanders\u2019 lives and livelihoods at risk.”<\/p>\n
