The Darling Downs Health Service reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19 at the weekend, taking the Queensland total since the pandemic began to 1085.<\/p>\n

There are currently 12 active cases in Queensland with seven patients in hospital.<\/p>\n

No new cases were reported on Monday.<\/p>\n

The weekend case involved a man, aged in his 20s, who is in home quarantine in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

The consular official, who flew into Sydney Airport from Kabul in Afghanistan, is exempt from hotel quarantine under national arrangements.<\/p>\n

Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said the man flew from Sydney to Maroochydore Airport before driving home to Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

He travelled on Jetstar flight JQ790 on Friday (July 31).\u00a0Other passengers on that flight are now being contacted by Queensland Health.<\/p>\n

Sunday figures from Queensland Health showed there are currently 98 people in the Darling Downs Health Region under self-quarantine; across Queensland, 2510 people are in quarantine.<\/p>\n

Dr Young encouraged people to continue coming forward for testing if they have developed any COVID-19 symptoms, even if mild, especially if they have been in the Logan, South Brisbane or Springfield areas – or interstate – during the past 14 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Symptoms may include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, and fatigue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are testing facilities right across the State including fever clinics, GPs and pop-up clinics,\u201d Dr Young said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really important if you\u2019re showing any symptoms at all to get tested. The most important message is: Feeling sick? Stay home. Get tested.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also strongly encourage people to stay 1.5 metres away from other people as much as possible, wash your hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser often, and leave a location if it is crowded.\u201d<\/p>\n

From noon on Sunday, visitors are not permitted to attend an extended list of aged care facilities in the Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redland, Gold Coast and Scenic Rim Regional local government areas of Queensland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
