South Burnett police stations will receive four new First Year Constables from the latest crop of Oxley Police Academy graduates.<\/p>\n

Eighty-one recruits graduated from the Academy on Friday.<\/p>\n

Two will be heading to Murgon Police Station and one each to Kingaroy and Nanango stations.<\/p>\n

Police Minister Mark Ryan congratulated the First Year Constables on their graduation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese FYCs are beginning their careers during unprecedented times, when the role of our police is more important than ever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Minister Ryan said the graduation was the first full induction ceremony since January.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIn March, Commissioner Carroll made the decision to fast-track police graduations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision was made to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the Academies, and immediately boost the number of frontline officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cSocial distancing requirements have prevented graduates from celebrating with a full ceremony, with QPS instead opting for a small, private swearing-in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very pleased this latest cohort will have their achievements recognised in a full induction ceremony.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commissioner Carroll said the First Year Constables came from many backgrounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a diverse group of graduates representative of our community who bring skills and experience from a wide range of previous careers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe training program these recruits have completed prepares them for a range of policing scenarios, and they will continue to learn on-the-job through the First Year Constable program.<\/p>\n
