South Burnett Senior Eagle of the Year Glen Fisher, 17, has been named one of the 60 best schoolboy rugby league players in Queensland.<\/p>\n

The Year 11 student is currently living away from family and friends so he can attend the Rugby League Academy at Alexandra Hills State High School in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

He has been picked as fullback in the school team for the Gee Shield competition, which began on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the Courier-Mail newspaper identified 60 talented young players currently competing in the elite Gee, Langer and Payne schoolboy rugby league competitions which it believes could be the NRL stars of the future.<\/p>\n

It pointed to Glen as being one of Alexandra Hills SHS’s key players.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Hard-working Cherbourg prospect fullback Glen Fisher, centre Kauri Maera and lock Cooper Hewett have a ready-made combination entering the season, having all played together in the Wynnum Seagulls Mal Meninga Cup representative side,” the newspaper noted.<\/p>\n

Alexandra Hills kicked off its Gee Shield campaign with a win on Wednesday, defeating Caloundra State High School.<\/p>\n

Glen played almost all his junior rugby league with the Murgon Mustangs.<\/p>\n

He has also played for the South Burnett Eagles, Wide Bay Bulls and Central Qld Crows, and last weekend pulled on a guernsey for Wynnum-Manly’s U18s.<\/p>\n
