South Burnett Saints couldn’t overcome the Bombers in the last quarter of their clash on Saturday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

July 27, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was a weekend of reversals for the South Burnett Saints in Kingaroy with the women’s team notching up a win, while the men narrowly lost a thrilling battle against South Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

In the women’s game, the Saints defeated the Bombers\u00a03.10-28 to\u00a02.4-16 in a low-scoring match.<\/p>\n

The Saints were ahead by one behind at half-time but went on to kick two more goals to seal the win.<\/p>\n

Goals were kicked by Reanna Fenton, Keeley Walker and Teagan Cutts.<\/p>\n

South Burnett got off to a slow start in the men’s game and were behind at the first change after kicking just the one goal.<\/p>\n

But by half-time they had made up the margin and had drawn level with the Bombers when the siren sounded:\u00a05.7-37 to\u00a06.1-37.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The visitors had their nose just ahead at the end of the third:\u00a08.3-51 to\u00a07.8-50, setting the stage for a half-fought final\u00a0quarter.<\/p>\n

Sadly for local fans, the Bombers fired up in the last, keeping the Saints scoreless while peppering the sticks with kicks.<\/p>\n

The final score was South Burnett\u00a07.8-50, going down to South Toowoomba\u00a010.7-67.<\/p>\n

South Burnett goals were kicked Shaun Pukallus (3) and James Packer (2) while Daniel Trace and Lachlan Grey added one apiece.<\/p>\n

Next Saturday, both the South Burnett women and men have a bye.<\/p>\n

Both teams will be back in action on August 8 against the Hawks at Goondiwindi.<\/p>\n
