A 10-week, round-robin style soccer competition kicked off at Kingaroy’s Tom Alford Oval at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club vice-president Mark Denman said three teams were taking part: Wests, Gunners and the Barambah Bears.<\/p>\n

They would each play six games every Saturday, starting at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

All games will be played in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

There would be nine fixture rounds followed by the Grand Final.<\/p>\n

Points will be allocated each week towards each team, as well as points for the “Golden Boot”, ie. the player who kicks the most goals.<\/p>\n

At the end of the nine rounds, the two teams which have accumulated the most points will play off in the Grand Final.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mark said it was a sanctioned inter-club competition and spectators were welcome to come along and watch, so long as they complied with COVID Safe directions including signing in.<\/p>\n

At the end of Round 1, played on Saturday, Barambah had two points, ahead of Gunners and Wests on one point each.<\/p>\n

Harry Sinclair (Barambah) was leading in the Golden Boot competition.<\/p>\n

Hopes a junior soccer competition could go ahead in a restricted form in the South Burnett were dashed last month when Football South Burnett made the difficult decision to scrap plans to hold Under 12\/13 and Cadet competitions.<\/p>\n

The Senior Women\u2019s competition was also cancelled.<\/p>\n

Under 6s to Under 11s games were cancelled earlier in June.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club plans to host its annual Summer Soccer Sevens competition under lights again this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mark Denman said it would be played on Wednesday nights, most likely beginning after the September school holidays.<\/p>\n
