A determined last quarter by the South Burnett Saints drove them to victory against the Tigers in the men’s AFL game played at Toowoomba on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Toowoomba Tigers got off to a strong start, leading 3.6-24 to 0.3-3 at the end of the first quarter.<\/p>\n

By half-time, the Saints had narrowed the margin after Mitchell Francis kicked two goals, but Toowoomba still led 5.6-36 to 4.5-29.<\/p>\n

Toowoomba fought back in the third quarter but the Saints held them to one goal in the last to score a well-fought win: 9.9-63 to 8.11-59.<\/p>\n

Francis’ third six-pointer and Shaun Pukallus’ second – both kicked in the last four minutes – secured victory for the visitors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saints’ goals were kicked by Mitchell Francis (3), Shaun Pukallus (2), Kieran Askin, Kyron Tunstall, James Packer and Troy Miller.<\/p>\n

South Burnett is currently on top of the Darling Downs AFL ladder after securing back-to-back wins in the first two rounds of the competition.<\/p>\n

The Saints’ women weren’t so lucky in their match against the Tigers, going down 16.14-110 to nil.<\/p>\n

Next Saturday, the Saints men and women will both be back at home at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy, taking on the South Toowoomba Bombers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
