If South Burnett CTC staff looked a little dozy on Friday it was nothing to worry about … they were just celebrating National Pyjama Day.<\/p>\n

National Pyjama Day is an annual fundraiser run by The Pyjama Foundation to raise awareness and much-needed funds for children in foster care.<\/p>\n

The Pyjama Foundation\u00a0 provides children in foster care with an opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence.<\/p>\n

Volunteers, called “Pyjama Angels”, are screened, trained and then matched with a child in care and spend time with them once a week.<\/p>\n

CTC’s Partners In Foster Care team leader Brenda Brown was the moving force behind CTC workers getting behind National Pyjama Day this year.<\/p>\n

By the end of Friday, their efforts had raised almost $1000 for the charity – not bad as their original target was $250!<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We are trying to raise awareness to help get The Pyjama Foundation into the South Burnett,” Brenda said.<\/p>\n

“We we would like them to come out here from Brisbane to train people to become volunteer mentors for children who are in foster care.<\/p>\n

“The volunteers become another support person in that child’s life.”<\/p>\n

Brenda said she already had a list of about six people who were willing to be trained.<\/p>\n

At CTC’s Partners In Foster Care office in Wondai, the workers decided that “pizzas in pyjamas” was the way to go, enjoying a pizza break in PJs at lunchtime.<\/p>\n

CTC workers from the Renew program, based at the Kingaroy Youth Park, also dressed up (or down) for the day, as did staff at CTC’s HQ in Kingaroy, who donned their favourite dressing gowns.<\/p>\n
