Kingaroy’s Brenda Langford probably didn’t think when she started making hand-crafted candleholders last October that she’d soon be selling them to customers in the United States.<\/p>\n

Brenda’s candleholders are made from wood and then carefully decorated.<\/p>\n

She buys the lengths of wood, sands them (“this takes a long time”) and then stains or paints them.<\/p>\n

Brenda also drills all the holes that hide the tea candles.<\/p>\n

“Some days I have had so many orders that I have ended up drilling 130 holes,” she said.<\/p>\n

The candleholders are popular because they can be made-to-order in any colour with special designs or messages.<\/p>\n

Brenda has a “crafty” background.<\/p>\n

“I started scrapbooking when my daughter was born seven years ago, and it sort of evolved from this,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know how I thought of the candleholders, but I love candles and most people I know love candles.”<\/p>\n

She sells the candleholders at local markets, but it’s her internet sales<\/a><\/strong> which have really taken off, including customers in the United States that don’t mind paying the postage.<\/p>\n

Brenda’s “Scrapped Up” stall will be at Sunday’s Handmade Expo markets at Kingaroy Town Hall from 9:00am to 2:00pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
