Detectives are warning rural Queenslanders to remain vigilant about scams linked to fake online stores selling non-existent farm machinery and vehicles.<\/p>\n

Recently, several victims in rural areas have fallen to scammers claiming to be legitimate dealers in tractors and farm machinery.<\/p>\n

They paid significant amounts of money for products advertised well below their market value.\u00a0They were not delivered.<\/p>\n

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Elliot from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Rural said people needed to be cautious prior to parting with their hard-earned money.<\/p>\n

\u201cScammers are becoming more sophisticated in their operations. We are buying more online and it\u2019s getting harder to identify fake websites and illegitimate businesses,\u201d Det Snr Sgt Elliot said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBefore purchasing any equipment make sure you do you research, look at reviews and if you can\u2019t view the machine in person, I would recommend making your own arrangements for a mechanical inspection before transferring any money.<\/p>\n

\u201cWarning signs to look out for are unrealistic low prices and limited information about the delivery company.<\/p>\n

“The classic advice rings true, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said people who believed they may have been a victim of this scam should contact their local police and financial institutions immediately.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
