State Government grants of up to $20,000 to support sporting clubs to buy equipment and carry out capital works opened on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The COVID-19 Active Restart Infrastructure Recovery Fund provides grants to help clubs back on to their feet after COVID-19 had impacted their seasons.<\/p>\n

Sport Minister Mick de Brenni said the $15.5 million program would support up to 3000 not-for-profit sport and recreation clubs and organisations as they returned to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that competitions are back up and running, we are delivering Queensland\u2019s plan to support our local clubs through this tough, global economic crisis,\u201d Mr de Brenni said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese grants will help make up the fundraising shortfall caused by isolation and help clubs return to self-sufficiency.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr de Brenni said the funding could be used for anything from painting the clubhouse to installing a new set of goal posts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re creating employment opportunities for local tradies to deliver the capital works, and our equipment grants will support the economic recovery of local suppliers.”<\/p>\n

Mr de Brenni said applications opened at midday, with the total budget to be shared equally between regional Queensland and south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n
