The Coolabunia Fat and Store Sale on Tuesday (July 14) was a reduced yarding on the back of last week’s Special Sale, which saw 1,330 head yarded (see separate report, further below<\/em>).<\/p>\n

The latest sale saw values hold firm with export cows to $3.05\/kg and heavy cows averaging $2.58\/kg.<\/p>\n

Friesian cows from Nanango averaged $2.56\/kg and $1940.<\/p>\n

Heavy steers sold well to average $3.50\/kg.<\/p>\n

Good Droughtmaster weaner steers averaged $3.80\/kg at $890, and their sisters average $3.50\/kg at $767.<\/p>\n

Cattle were drawn from local areas.<\/p>\n

The next Fat and Store Sale will be held on July 28 at Murgon from 8:00am, and Coolabunia from noon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There will also be a Charolais Bull Sale Open Day on July 18 in preparation for the Coolabunia Classic Charolais Bull Sale on August 13.<\/p>\n

The Coolabunia Special Store Sale conducted by Aussie Land and Livestock on July 9 delivered some great results, with steers topping at $4.40\/kg. <\/strong><\/p>\n

1330 head of cattle were booked in, comprising 660 steers, 435 heifers, 72 PTIC heifers\/cows and 66 cows and calves.<\/p>\n

All were sold.<\/p>\n

Some of the cattle were showing the effects of the season, but overall the quality was pretty good.<\/p>\n

Cattle were drawn from Biggenden, Gin Gin, Murgon, Goomeri and local areas and were sold to locals, Western Downs buyers and interstate interests.<\/p>\n

Sale results:<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  • The Steer market remains fairly strong with good buying support from NSW and a few local producers with min and max of $3.82 to top at $4.40\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • The Heifer market compared to the steers was very strong and topped $4.04\/kg and $1141.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • A line of Droughtmaster cows and calves sold at $1770 per unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Angus cross\/Charolais cross cows made $1,700 range<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Brahman cows pregnancy tested empty with calves at foot sold for $2075 to a local breeder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • Light cows sold for $1100<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n
              • Cows under 400kg sold between $1500\/$1600<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                  \n
                • Bulls between 450\u2013600kg sold for $1473\n<\/ul>\n

                  Aussie Land & Livestock live streamed the sale but had difficulty with the internet service dropping in and out, especially during the first part of the sale.<\/p>\n

                  Some buyers bid by phone, while other buyers travelled from Western Queensland, coastal areas and New South Wales to attend the sale.<\/p>\n
