Member for Maranoa – and Minister for Emergency Management – David Littleproud has urged all Australians to prepare for another tough bushfire season.<\/p>\n

This follows the publication on Tuesday of the Australian Seasonal Bushfire Outlook (July 2020) by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Co-operative Research Centre.<\/p>\n

The mid-year review covers all States and Territories through to September.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith memories of last summer\u2019s horror bushfire season still fresh in our minds, all Australians, especially in the high-risk areas outlined in the report, should be planning to protect their family and property,\u201d Minister Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

The report identifies above-normal risk of fires in south-east NSW and north-west Western Australia.<\/p>\n

In Queensland, normal fire potential is expected, however there is a risk of grass fires due to good grass growth in some areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The report will be used by fire authorities to make strategic decisions such as resource planning and prescribed fire management.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working with Councils, States and Territories to keep Australians safe this summer. We cannot afford to be complacent,\u201d Minister Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

\u201cStart to think about your fire plan now and know what you will do if you need to evacuate.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalk to your neighbours, ask them about their evacuation plan and let them know about your plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we work together and look out for each other, we\u2019ll get through the bushfire season.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople wanting more information on how to plan and prepare should contact their local fire service.\u201d<\/p>\n
