{"id":264100,"date":"2020-07-13T11:49:02","date_gmt":"2020-07-13T01:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=264100"},"modified":"2020-07-13T15:25:20","modified_gmt":"2020-07-13T05:25:20","slug":"one-more-case-in-qld","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/07\/13\/one-more-case-in-qld\/","title":{"rendered":"One More Case In Qld"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_151703\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-151703\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/steven-miles-200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-151703\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/steven-miles-200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/steven-miles-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/steven-miles-200-171x300.jpg 171w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-151703\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Deputy Premier and Health Minister Dr Steven Miles<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>July 13, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One more confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported in Queensland on Monday, taking the State&#8217;s total of active cases to four.<\/p>\n<p>Health Minister Steven Miles said the new case was a traveller returning from the United States who was now in quarantine.<\/p>\n<p>The Sunshine Coast woman in her 30s is in hotel quarantine and is being managed by Metro North Hospital and Health Service.<\/p>\n<p>This was the third new case to be reported within days: at the weekend two new cases were revealed, both Australian Defence Force personnel returning from overseas.<\/p>\n<p>In Victoria, 177 new confirmed cases were reported on Monday, following\u00a0273 new cases on Sunday and 216 on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In NSW, 14 new cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours: four overseas travellers, two NSW residents who had been in Victoria; and eight linked to a hotel in south-western Sydney.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Editorial: <a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/07\/13\/covid-19-we-must-do-better\/\">COVID-19: We Must Do Better!<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced the start of a human clinical trial in Brisbane for a potential COVID-19 vaccine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Volunteers will receive their first dose of the vaccine this week, developed by researchers led by Prof Paul Young at the University of Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary results of the trial &#8211; which has enlisted 120 volunteers &#8211; are expected to be released by the end of September.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of a number of trials occurring in Australia and overseas.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The State Government re-issued a public health alert on Monday urging Queenslanders who visited NSW\u2019s Crossroads Hotel between July 3-10 inclusive to get COVID-19 tested and isolate immediately.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The hotel, located at Casula, is the hub for a cluster of COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen people have so far tested positive, with about 1000 people asked to self-isolate.<\/p>\n<p>A second hotel at Picton has also been closed.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Premier Steven Miles said the Crossroads Hotel was a busy stopover for many travellers, so it was very likely there were a number of Queenslanders who had been there during this period.<\/p>\n<p>There are testing facilities right across Queensland including GPs, fever clinics and pop-up clinics.
