July 11, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some of the nation’s elite motocross riders will be coming to Kingaroy on July 18-19 to compete in Round 2 of the Sunshine State MX series at the SBJMX Club track.<\/p>\n

The meeting had been scheduled to take place in March but had to be postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n

The Sunshine State competition is a five-round series.<\/p>\n

Round 1 was successfully completed in February at Coolum before the pandemic hit.<\/p>\n

Race secretary Anne Polsoni said about 160 riders took part each day at Coolum and she was expecting a similar number to register for Round 2 in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Riders will range in age from six to veterans.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, 50cc auto, 65cc, Mini Lites (age 9 to U12), MX2 Pro & Expert, veterans and women will be racing.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Mini Lites (age 12 to U16), Junior Lites (2 & 4 strokes), MX1 & 2 Clubman, MX1 Pro & Expert and MX Development will hit the track.<\/p>\n

“Quite a few MX national champions will be riding,” Anne said.<\/p>\n

Three times Australian MX champion Dean Ferris will be racing in the veteran’s category.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy’s own pro-rider, Joel Evans, will be riding on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Also competing on the weekend will be well-known MX riders Aaron Tanti and Jay Wilson.<\/p>\n

Racing will start about 9:30am each day and spectators are welcome, but they must complete the COVID register (which will be on the Sunshine State series’ Facebook page<\/a>)<\/strong> or at the gate.<\/p>\n

Entry is $5 for adults and $2 for children.<\/p>\n

This is the first time the Sunshine State series has raced in Kingaroy since the SBJMX Club unveiled its new track on Edenvale South Road last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
