A barbecue hosted by the Mondure Rural Fire Brigade on Friday night provided an opportunity for community members to air issues of concern with the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Mayor Brett Otto and Division 5 councillor Kathy Duff mingled with residents at the social event, enjoying one-on-one chats, before a more public discussion was held.<\/p>\n

southburnett.com.au has been told issues raised during this discussion included:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • The recent rise in water charges at the Hivesville standpipe.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Mayor Otto told the crowd he had made a mistake by not having more public consultations about the rise.<\/p>\n

    A suggestion was put forward to hold a public meeting in Hivesville to discuss the water issue, but no arrangements were made.<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Future upkeep of the Mondure Hall.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Residents expressed concerns that Council may be moving towards selling this asset despite reassurances when the Hivesville Hall was sold that the Mondure facility would continue to service the local community.<\/p>\n

      A suggestion was put forward that a progress association – perhaps a combined Mondure-Hivesville committee – be formed to ensure the future of the hall, possibly including already incorporated local associations.<\/p>\n

      The next meeting of the Proston Round Table will be held at the Golden Spurs Hotel in Proston on Thursday night (6:00pm for a 6:30pm start).<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Topics to be discussed at this meeting include:<\/p>\n

      • A possible caravan dump point for Proston<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Proposed options for the use of the land between the hotel and the former town hall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • An update on silo murals, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
