The Cherbourg Checkpoint will remain in place for the time being despite the further easing of travel restrictions<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The COVID-19 checkpoint on Cherbourg Road will be gone from midday on Friday, restoring full access to the community.<\/p>\n

This means Cherbourg will be on “Stage 3” restrictions, the same as the rest of Queensland.<\/p>\n

No entry permit will be required, and there will be no restrictions on where Cherbourg residents can travel (ie. the “Declared Travel Zone” is gone).<\/p>\n

However, a Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council spokesperson said council would prefer no one outside of Queensland travel into the community – especially from Victoria where COVID-19 hotspots remain.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced changed entry requirements at the Queensland border.<\/p>\n

From noon on Friday (July 3) anyone who travels from Victoria \u2013 including Queenslanders \u2013 will be prevented from entering Queensland unless they complete 14 days of hotel quarantine at their own expense.<\/p>\n
