Kingaroy Lions Club’s two major annual fundraising ventures – the Kingaroy Trail Ride and Burrandowan Races – were derailed by COVID-19 but that hasn’t stopped the club from helping out in the local community.<\/p>\n

Club president Marjorie Argue presented South Burnett CTC CEO Nina Temperton with a cheque for $1500 on Thursday to assist the not-for-profit organisation with two vital community care activities.<\/p>\n

CTC’s emergency relief program received $1000, while the “Share The Dignity” program – which provides sanitary items to women in need – received $500.<\/p>\n

Marj, who will be retiring from the president’s role at the club’s July changeover meeting, said the funds had been raised from Lions’ catering and other regular activities.<\/p>\n

She especially wanted to thank Bunnings in Kingaroy for their assistance.<\/p>\n

Lions had been scheduled to run sausage sizzles outside their store but these had been cancelled due to COVID-19 requirements. Bunnings, however, generously still gave the club a donation.<\/p>\n

“We certainly didn’t expect it. Thank you Bunnings!” Marj said.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Lions Club has about 38 members but is always keen to welcome new faces to the club.<\/p>\n
