{"id":262484,"date":"2020-07-01T10:29:41","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T00:29:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=262484"},"modified":"2020-07-02T18:35:26","modified_gmt":"2020-07-02T08:35:26","slug":"minimum-wage-up-1-75pc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/07\/01\/minimum-wage-up-1-75pc\/","title":{"rendered":"Minimum Wage Up 1.75pc"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_214534\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-214534\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/sandraparker1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-214534\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/sandraparker1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/sandraparker1.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/sandraparker1-198x300.jpg 198w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-214534\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fair Work Ombudsman Sandra Parker<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>July 1, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Fair Work Ombudsman has reminded employers the national minimum wage has risen to $19.84 per hour (up from $19.49) or $753.80 per week (up from $740.80).<\/p>\n<p>The 1.75 per cent increase applies from the first full pay period starting on or after July 1.<\/p>\n<p>Employees covered by awards will also have base rates increased by 1.75 per cent, however these increases to award wages begin on different dates for different groups of awards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Group 1 awards, such as Frontline Heath Care and Social Assistance Workers; Teachers and Child Care; and other Essential Services, increase from July 1;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Group 2 awards, such as Construction and Manufacturing, increase from November 1;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Group 3 awards, such as Accommodation and Food Services; Arts and Recreation Services; Aviation; Retail and Tourism, increase from February 1, 2021.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A list of all awards by group can be found <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairwork.gov.au\/about-us\/news-and-media-releases\/website-news\/the-commission-has-announced-a-1-75-increase-to-minimum-wages#when-will-my-award-increase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fair Work Ombudsman Sandra Parker said workplaces were expected to ensure all their employees were paid at least the relevant minimum wage, in line with the Fair Work Commission\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Fair Work Ombudsman has free online tools available to help employers comply with their workplace obligations, which have been updated to reflect the new pay rates,\u201d Ms Parker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge all businesses to use our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/calculate.fairwork.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pay and Conditions Tool<\/a><\/strong> to check the lawful minimum rates they need to pay their staff, or to contact us directly for free assistance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We encourage workers to use the Pay and Conditions Tool to check their rates of pay \u2013 and call us if they have any concerns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If workers are unsure which award applies to them, they can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairwork.gov.au\/awards-and-agreements\/awards\/find-my-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Find My Award Tool<\/strong><\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The new minimum wages will also apply to any work an employee performs while they&#8217;re in the JobKeeper scheme, if they get their pay rate from an award or the national minimum wage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Fair Work Ombudsman has reminded employers the national minimum wage has risen to $19.84 per hour (up from $19.49) or $753.80 per week (up from $740.80).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":262486,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,3],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
