The new South Burnett Saints AFL Football Club will host a breakfast and home game in May to raise awareness and take a stand against domestic violence .<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the event, to be held on May 4 as part of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, would be funded by a $3000 grant from the State Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event is a great opportunity to stand together and speak out against domestic and family violence to make our homes and communities a safer place,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

Communities Minister Tracy Davis said Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month raises community awareness and strengthens local support for domestic and family violence prevention initiatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Newman Government has provided more than $65,000 to fund 23 community organisations, volunteer groups and services across Queensland to host activities, projects and events during May,\u201d Ms Davis said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government is committed to building awareness, to help prevent domestic and family violence. We encourage people to seek help if they suspect abuse is occurring.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am urging Queenslanders from all walks of life to get behind community events and activities to help send a powerful message that domestic and family violence is not acceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n
