June 29, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

A fire which razed St Leo’s Catholic Church in Haden earlier this month was deliberately lit.<\/p>\n

Crows Nest police have confirmed investigations are continuing into the blaze which erupted in the early hours of June 7.<\/p>\n

The wooden building on Boundary Road was completely destroyed.<\/p>\n

Both urban and rural fire crews were called but could not save the historic building which was engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n

St Leo’s was opened in 1931 and serviced parishioners from as far away as Cooyar and Peranga.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called at 12:10am on June 7.<\/p>\n

Paramedics were on standby but no patients required assistance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
