The Federal Government is extending a targeted drought support program until the end of this year.<\/p>\n

The Drought Community Support Initiative (DCSI) was launched late last year, before the pandemic struck.<\/p>\n

It is supporting farming households in\u00a0180 nominated Council areas across Australia, including the South Burnett.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSince November, almost $75 million has been paid to support more than 25,000 farming households,\u201d Agriculture Minister and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cDCSI payments of up to $3000 are already assisting farming families to meet urgent expenses, including for food, petrol and utilities, and they have let us know how much this extra support has meant to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe injection of money into rural and regional communities is supporting local businesses which were already struggling financially before the COVID-19 crisis.”<\/p>\n
