Yarraman and Cooyar residents with a passion for working with young people have been invited to nominate for positions on Toowoomba Council’s Regional Youth Advisory Committee (RYAC).<\/p>\n

TRC is seeking nominations from across the region to fill 14 positions for a new term of the committee.<\/p>\n

Applications close at 5:00pm on Friday, July 10.<\/p>\n

RYAC chair Cr James O\u2019Shea said Council welcomed expressions of interest from applicants across a range of community and professional backgrounds, from community services to employment, education, health, disability, child protection, youth justice, police and emergency services backgrounds.<\/p>\n

Applications from young people, aged between 18-25, with a passion for improving outcomes for their peers were also welcome.<\/p>\n

Cr O\u2019Shea said the advisory committee\u2019s role was to represent the interests of young people by providing strategic advice for Council\u2019s consideration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m positive that the committee can add its collective knowledge and support to Council, especially around the future implementation of Council\u2019s Youth Strategy 2019-2021,\u201d Cr O\u2019Shea said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring Council\u2019s previous term, the RYAC was instrumental in the Youth Strategy\u2019s development. As a result of their efforts, the incoming committee will have a blueprint that details how Council will recognise, engage and support our region\u2019s young people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith more than 27,000 young people living in our region, it\u2019s important that young people are involved in the development of their communities and have opportunities to shape the topics and issues that matter most to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meetings will be held on the second Thursday of the month from 9:30am-11:30am, except for public holidays.<\/p>\n
