Nanango’s Easter race meeting – usually a big event for the club – was cancelled due to COVID-19<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nanango Race Club will receive $65,000 from the State Government to replace ageing infrastructure at the Lee Park track.<\/p>\n

The funding, to replace the main stewards tower, was announced by\u00a0Racing Minister Stirling Hinchliffe on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The grant is under Round 2 of the four-year,\u00a0$70.4 million Country Racing Support Package.<\/p>\n

Non-TAB clubs can apply to Racing Queensland under the package to receive funding for projects relating to infrastructure repairs and maintenance<\/p>\n

\u201cFifty projects have been approved under this second round of funding, which means jobs and a boost to the economies in more than 30 of our smaller communities,\u201d Mr Hinchliffe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re expecting to announce a third round before the end of the year, which again means jobs and another decent shot in the arm of the economies of successful communities.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Hinchliffe said country racing was the heartbeat of many communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe majority of our non-TAB clubs have had their meetings either cancelled or postponed during COVID-19 and, as such, their capacity to fund much-needed infrastructure improvements has been further diluted,” he said.<\/p>\n
