{"id":259845,"date":"2020-06-17T16:47:02","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T06:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=259845"},"modified":"2020-07-10T12:13:20","modified_gmt":"2020-07-10T02:13:20","slug":"pay-rise-for-council-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/06\/17\/pay-rise-for-council-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Pay Rise For<br> Council Workers"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_259846\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-259846\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/20200617eba.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-259846\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/20200617eba.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/20200617eba.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/20200617eba-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/20200617eba-263x163.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-259846\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">South Burnett Regional Council CEO Mark Pitt and General Manager Community Peter O&#8217;May &#8230; enterprise bargaining concluded recently<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>June 17, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett Regional Council employees received a 2.5 per cent pay rise this week following the successful conclusion recently of enterprise bargaining negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Mark Pitt said the result followed nearly 12 months of talks involving six unions.<\/p>\n<p>The payrise &#8211; signed off in two separate agreements covering indoor (officers) and outdoor (field) staff &#8211; covers about 300 workers.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pitt said negotiations had concluded during the COVID-19 restrictions which meant the final vote by employees was done &#8220;virtually&#8221; on April 28-29.<\/p>\n<p>The logistics of this virtual vote were handled by independent, external contractors. <\/p>\n<p>Mr Pitt said the Council&#8217;s last Enterprise Bargaining Agreement expired in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Legislative changes by successive State Governments had delayed the negotiating process since then, although workers had received two &#8220;administrative&#8221; payrises during this period: 2 per cent in July 2015 and 1.575 per cent in July 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pitt said the two new agreements had not yet been signed off by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission but as an act of good faith, Council had agreed to start paying the higher rates immediately. <\/p>\n<p>The SBRC also intended to re-establish a joint consultative committee with union representatives which will meet quarterly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SBRC employees received a 2.5pc pay rise this week following the successful conclusion of enterprise bargaining <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":259846,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
