{"id":259728,"date":"2020-06-16T18:11:33","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T08:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=259728"},"modified":"2020-06-24T20:15:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T10:15:00","slug":"funeral-restrictions-ease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/06\/16\/funeral-restrictions-ease\/","title":{"rendered":"Funeral Restrictions Ease"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_113791\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-113791\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/jeannette-young-200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-113791\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/jeannette-young-200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/jeannette-young-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/jeannette-young-200-176x300.jpg 176w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-113791\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Queensland\u2019s Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>June 16, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Up to 100 people can now attend funerals in Queensland after the\u00a0State Government eased more COVID-19 restrictions this week.<\/p>\n<p>The revised Health Direction took effect on Tuesday (June 16).<\/p>\n<p>Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said limiting attendances at funerals had been the most difficult direction she had been forced to impose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have been occasions where I have had to decline exemptions because of the COVID-19 risk,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are tough, heart-wrenching decisions to make but they\u2019ve unfortunately been necessary to prevent transmission of this disease, particularly among gatherings that include a lot of vulnerable people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m relieved that we have contained COVID-19 to the point where we can begin lifting limitations on important events like funerals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral organisers must keep a record of attendees for eight weeks in case contact tracing becomes necessary later.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dr Young said weddings remained capped at 20 guests because they could be postponed, unlike funerals.\u00a0 However, up to 100 people can attend a wedding if the wedding venue opts into the relevant industry safe plan.<\/p>\n<p>The 100 attendees only applies to funerals; it does not apply to wakes.<\/p>\n<p>Wakes are considered a gathering and therefore are subject to the relevant requirements for the venue.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Queensland\u2019s COVID-19 tally remained at 1065 on Monday, with no new cases recorded.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There were just five active cases across the State: two patients in the Gold Coast health region, and one each in the Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast and Metro South regions.<\/p>\n<p>One of these patients was in an intensive care unit in hospital.<\/p>\n<p>There were still 3162 people in active self-quarantine across the State (including 66 in the Darling Downs Health region); 63,341 people had completed self-quarantine.<\/p>\n<p>Across Australia, there have been a total of\u00a0<span class=\"madlib-word\">7345<\/span>\u00a0confirmed cases<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of COVID-19 so far (including\u00a0<span class=\"madlib-word\">102<\/span>\u00a0deaths);\u00a0<span class=\"madlib-word\">392<\/span>\u00a0of these confirmed cases are still active.<\/p>\n<p>There were 15 new confirmed cases reported on Monday: three in NSW and 12 in Victoria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Up to 100 people can now attend funerals in Queensland after the\u00a0State Government eased more COVID-19 restrictions this week <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":254316,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1455,3],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
