{"id":259720,"date":"2020-06-16T17:06:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T07:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=259720"},"modified":"2020-06-16T18:58:43","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T08:58:43","slug":"12-5m-boost-for-agribusiness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/06\/16\/12-5m-boost-for-agribusiness\/","title":{"rendered":"$12.5m Boost For Agribusiness"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_176862\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-176862\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-176862\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/palaszczuk-200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/palaszczuk-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/palaszczuk-200-172x300.jpg 172w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-176862\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk (Photo: Twitter)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>June 16, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The State Government has announced a $12.5 million funding package for Queensland&#8217;s agribusiness and food sector as part of its COVID-19 recovery plan.<\/p>\n<p>Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced the package on Tuesday as part of the second stage of the government\u2019s\u00a0&#8220;Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs&#8221; plan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At the last meeting of the Queensland Industry Recovery Alliance, AgForce told us that regional Queensland can do the heavy lifting in the recovery,&#8221; the Premier said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I absolutely agree.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This $12.5 million funding package will provide an initial economic boost to the agribusiness and food sector, transition and transform it post COVID-19, and accelerate the State\u2019s economic recovery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Initiatives funded under plan include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$5.5 million digital transformation in agribusiness \u2013 to develop integrated supply chains that improve traceability, biosecurity and food safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$5 million reinvigorated agricultural trade relationships \u2013 to support e-commerce and virtual trade facilitation in key markets and assist coordination of demand for additional regular air freighter services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$2 million agribusiness diversification assistance \u2013 to build capability and explore potential diversification opportunities in agricultural businesses, including tourism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AgForce Qld welcomed the funding announcement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The group said a number of measures &#8211; such as boosting trade opportunities and digital technology &#8211; came out of a briefing AgForce provided the Premier earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Michael Guerin said he was pleased the Premier had been able to action AgForce\u2019s recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Premier\u2019s announcement reflects views expressed by both State and Federal governments that agriculture and regional communities will be pivotal to the nation\u2019s economic recovery post-COVID,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The $5.5 million for digital technology will increase efficiency and quality assurance in the industry while the $5 million will support producers access e-commerce platforms to sell goods overseas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Guerin also welcomed the Premier\u2019s commitment to providing further support measures.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to continuing to work with the government on further measures as we look to strengthen agriculture as a powerhouse of the recovery effort,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The State Government has announced a $12.5 million funding package for Queensland&#8217;s agribusiness and food sector as part of its COVID-19 recovery plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":176863,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1455,3,36],"tags":[1134],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
