Nanango’s historic Ringsfield House is set amongst extensive gardens<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A community committee could take over the running of Nanango’s historic Ringsfield House, owned by the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

The Ringsfield Cafe has been closed for several months while Council replaced the roof on the ageing building.<\/p>\n

There are now no immediate plans for it to re-open with the former lessees concentrating on other business interests.<\/p>\n

Portfolio holder Cr Kathy Duff and local councillor Cr Roz Frohloff met recently with representatives from the Nanango Tourism and Development Association (NaTDA), including president Gloria Kirkness, secretary Jane Erkens and Barry and Mary Green to discuss the future of the Ringsfield complex.<\/p>\n

The matter was also discussed at NaTDA’s meeting last Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Mrs Kirkness said the NaTDA members had resolved to seek expressions of interest from the community to form a management committee.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim would be for this “Friends of Ringsfield” committee to get incorporated and then employ a manager to run the facility.<\/p>\n

The vision would be for Ringsfield to re-open as a museum, with tea and coffee available for sale to visitors.<\/p>\n

Mrs Kirkness said NaTDA believed there was a potential to attract cyclists from the South Burnett Rail Trail who were looking for refreshments on Saturday and Sunday afternoons when most other businesses in Nanango were closed.<\/p>\n

Anyone interested in joining the management committee, or with ideas about the future running of Ringsfield, should contact the NaTDA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
