South Burnett Regional Council is working on the list of shovel-ready projects which it must submit to the State Government by Friday.<\/p>\n

Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe reminded councils on Thursday morning they have just two days to get their applications in for projects to be funded through the COVID Works for Queensland round.<\/p>\n

Mayor Brett Otto told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> councillors had been nominating projects to submit for State Government approval, and a final list would be submitted before the deadline.<\/p>\n

“We have tried to ensure that all parts of the South Burnett see a benefit from this funding,” Mayor Otto said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Projects under consideration include new footpaths, upgrades to regional parks, enhanced town entries and general asset maintenance.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council has been allocated $3.31 million under the round.<\/p>\n

Minister Hinchliffe said he was looking forward to seeing how the funding round had stimulated councils\u2019 forward thinking.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a significant part of the Palaszczuk Government\u2019s $6 billion Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs plan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe clock is ticking for councils to get their wish lists in for projects that will benefit their communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a really important opportunity to stimulate the State\u2019s economy and create thousands of jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese will be shovel-ready projects so there will be no delay getting people on the tools as soon as possible after projects are approved.”<\/p>\n
