Dance students from St John\u2019s Lutheran Primary School<\/strong> in Kingaroy were thrilled to be the sole team asked to perform at major conference held in Brisbane last Friday.<\/p>\n

They were invited to showcase their Dance Fever skills at the Queensland Studies Authority Conference at the Brisbane Convention Centre … in front of about 2000 delegates.<\/p>\n

The students were involved in two sessions of choreography with senior Dance Fever manager Alicia Nystrom<\/strong> prior to the event.<\/p>\n

Their dances included hip hop, waltz and jive.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/center>St John\u2019s School has participated in the Dance Fever program for the past nine years.<\/p>\n

During Term 1 students attend weekly lessons that include dancing with partners, hip hop and also whole class dance routines.<\/p>\n

It teaches children social interaction through the enjoyment of dance and also incorporates physical and co-ordination skills.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/center>St John’s dance teacher Tanya Favier<\/strong> also works with the children for the Dance Fever Interschool challenge each year.<\/p>\n

In early April every year the Year 4-7 team attend the Interschool Challenge held at Chandler, Brisbane, against other Dance Fever schools.<\/p>\n

This year the 83-strong team achieved great results in the Waltz, Mambo and Showdance sections of the competition.<\/p>\n

The team also won the Year 4 trophy, the Showdance (a tie) and came home as overall champions for the day.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/center>In September this year some of St John’s Dance Fever students have been selected to represent Queensland.<\/p>\n

This team will travel to Sydney to challenge NSW and Victoria in the Dance Fever State of Origin Challenge.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
