The South Burnett Regional Council will receive a bonus $3.31 million from the State Government for assorted “shovel ready” projects this year as part of Queensland’s COVID-19 recovery efforts<\/figcaption><\/figure>June 3, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council is receiving $3.31 million for “shovel-ready” projects from the State Government under the Works For Queensland COVID round.<\/p>\n

Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council will receive $1.13 million.<\/p>\n

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced individual council allocations from the $150 million regional program on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Other local council allocations are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Gympie Regional Council – $4,190,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • North Burnett Regional Council – $1,400,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Somerset Regional Council – $1,610,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Toowoomba Regional Council – $2,870,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Western Downs Regional Council – $2,730,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            South Burnett Regional Council previously identified a list of 36 shovel-ready projects which it was ready to deliver under a proposed “battleplan” for COVID-19 recovery put forward by the\u00a0Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ).<\/strong><\/p>\n

            These included a\u00a0$2.8 million Green Spaces Redevelopment to refurbish rural town parks through landscaping, tree replacement, gardens, seating, shade structures and pathways and a $750,000 Town Pride Project to convert grass medium strips in town centres to concrete and artificial turf for drought mitigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
