The solar feed-in tariff for regional Queensland customers has been lifted slightly for 2020-21.<\/p>\n

The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) announced on Friday that it had set the tariff at\u00a07.861 cents per kilowatt hour (c\/kWh), up from\u00a07.842 c\/kWh last year.<\/p>\n

QCA chair Prof Flavio Menezes said this value would give customers with solar panels “a fair and reasonable return”\u00a0for the electricity they export to the grid.<\/p>\n

He said the small increase was due to a surge in demand linked to the\u00a0extended separation of the South Australian and Victorian power grids after a storm knocked out key
\ntransmission lines.<\/p>\n

Customers who receive the 44 c\/kWh feed-in tariff under the Solar Bonus Scheme – introduced in 2008 – will not be affected by the new\u00a0tariff.<\/p>\n

They will stay on the 44 cent tariff until July 1, 2028, as long as they maintain their eligibility.<\/p>\n

The Solar Bonus Scheme was closed to new customers on June 25, 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
