Cherbourg mum Lucy Jerome drums the importance of education into her children because she knows it will give them a happier life in a technological age.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world\u2019s changing rapidly,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201cYou have to know how to use a computer these days.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s sees a future full of texting, Twittering, emailing and Facebooking; when most people\u2019s shopping will be done online and many of the jobs haven\u2019t even been invented yet.<\/p>\n

But Lucy, like many parents, has trouble helping her children with their homework.<\/p>\n

Lucy is Cherbourg State School\u2019s Parent of the Month for February.<\/p>\n

She is looking to enrol into a Nurunderi TAFE course to improve her skills.<\/p>\n

She ensures her children Myrtelle, 9, Jakira, 6, Isaac, 5 and Jonah, 4, are well rested before they get up, get dressed into their school uniform and are ready for the school bus with lunch in tow … every day, on time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019m really determined is for … all of my children to go on to Year 12,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m determined for that to happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sit with them every day and tell them they need to go to school and listen. (I tell them) don\u2019t be stubborn and backchat.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey need to go through school and go on with their education because everything will be different when they\u2019re older.<\/p>\n
