Two South Burnett community groups will be “tackling tough times” a little bit easier after a visit by local MP David Littleproud to Kingaroy on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management – and Member for Maranoa – announced that the Kingaroy BaconFest committee would be receiving a grant of $58,300.<\/p>\n

It was also good news for the\u00a0South Burnett Woodcrafters group which will receive\u00a0$59,757.<\/p>\n

The grants are via Round 16 of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal\u2019s (FRRR) “Tackling Tough Times Together” program.<\/p>\n

The Federal Government has committed nearly $1.5 million to this round to be distributed across Australia.<\/p>\n

BaconFest will be using the grant money to employ a project officer and ensure the future sustainability of the festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The funding will allow the Woodcrafters to advance their move into their new headquarters in King Street (the old QRail building) with electrical work, the construction of disability access ramps and a ceiling.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pleasing to see that the South Burnett Woodcrafters group will benefit from (the) investment to increase space in their workshop so that they can hold more activities and events,\u201d Mr Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will definitely bring more people together to share and learn about crafting wood.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith an injection of $58,300, the Kingaroy BaconFest committee will be equipped to better improve the event and expand its size to host more attendees.<\/p>\n

\u201cBaconFest serves as an important event that helps put Kingaroy and the South Burnett on the map as a tourist and business destination.”<\/p>\n
