Grain growers now have access to the harvest results of the latest variety trials to help them make crop decisions.<\/p>\n

The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) has launched its inaugural series of National Variety Trials (NVT) Harvest Reports which provide the\u00a0 independent varietal information on yield, quality and disease ratings.<\/p>\n

GRDC senior manager\u00a0Sean Coffey said the harvest reports contained the results of the past five years of trials across Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reports are an exciting new addition to the stable of NVT resources, offering growers and advisers another layer of important information to help them with crop variety choice,\u201d Mr Coffey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope these publications will be seen as useful decision support tools, underpinning selection of varieties that offer the best fit for individual farming systems and growing environments.\u201d<\/p>\n

The reports are designed to complement \u2013 not replace \u2013 the GRDC-supported state-based Sowing Guides, which are published prior to harvest.<\/p>\n

The NVT program evaluates more than 550 near-release or released varieties each year.<\/p>\n

It evaluates\u00a010 major crops: wheat, barley, canola, chickpea, faba bean, field pea, lentil, lupin, oat and sorghum at more than 630 trial sites.<\/p>\n
