April 16, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kingaroy accountant Brett Otto’s victory in the recent South Burnett Regional Council’s mayoral poll has finally been rubberstamped by the Electoral Commission of Queensland.<\/p>\n

The result was officially declared on the ECQ’s website on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The official tally was Brett Otto (7445), Keith Campbell (6836), Abigail Andersson (2802) and Toni Ralph (1608).<\/p>\n

There were 543 informal votes.<\/p>\n

A total of 19,234 people voted out of an enrolment of 23,008.<\/p>\n

However, the ECQ’s delay in declaring the final result has forced Council to re-schedule its post-election meeting at which the new councillors will be sworn in.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting scheduled to be held on Friday (April 17) has been postponed to Monday (April 20).<\/p>\n

The post-election meeting will be held in the Council Chambers in Glendon Street, Kingaroy, but entry restrictions will apply due to the current COVID-19 health directives.<\/p>\n

Council will livestream video and audio of the meeting.<\/p>\n
