poll for Gympie Mayor and Cr Hilary Smerdon has been safely re-elected in Division 6<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>April 15, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Glen Hartwig is the new mayor of Gympie Regional Council, defeating incumbent Mick Curran by almost 5000 votes.<\/p>\n<p>The Electoral Commission of Queensland officially declared the results for Divisions 2, 6 and 8 and the Mayor on Monday afternoon and for Divisions 3, 4, 5 and 7 on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The only Division still to be declared is Division 1 where a recount has been ordered.<\/p>\n<p>Sitting councillor Hilary Smerdon was easily re-elected in Division 6, which covers the Goomeri, Tansey, Kilkivan, Widgee, Woolooga and Pie Creek areas.<\/p>\n<p>The first council meeting after the poll has been pencilled in for April 23, dependent on the ECQ declaring the results in the remaining Divisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE: Division 1 has now been declared.\u00a0 The election of Jess Milne in Division 1 means that the Mayor
