There are now eight new faces on South Burnett streets following recent graduations from the Queensland Police Service Academy at Oxley.<\/p>\n

Two First Year Constables joined each of Kingaroy and Murgon police stations last week; they were joined by another two at each station this week.<\/p>\n

Acting Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police, Acting Senior Sergeant Sean Relf, said the new recruits were excited about being in Kingaroy and Murgon to serve their communities.<\/p>\n

He said their training had included an intensive physical, practical and theoretical program as well as specific skills relating to tactical officer safety skills.<\/p>\n

“The recruits have passed these aspects of the training program and are allocated a station where they will commence their supervised on-the-job training,” Acting Snr Sgt Relf said.<\/p>\n

“This \u2018on-the-road\u2019 training is carried out under the supervision of experienced field training officers.<\/p>\n

“Once the First Year Constables have completed this training they are then confirmed as a fully operational police officers into the Queensland community. ”<\/p>\n

They can then seek to specialise in a specific stream such as a detective, Scenes of Crime officer, Rural Crime Investigation Squad or a member of the Road Policing Unit.<\/p>\n

Acting Senior Sergeant Sean Relf said a career in policing was a very challenging but rewarding occupation.<\/p>\n
