status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A re-supply plan is being developed for the entire South Burnett for future service delivery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_167461\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-167461\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/keithcampbell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-167461\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/keithcampbell.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-167461\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell (Photo: SBRC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>Mayor Campbell\u2019s Statement<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>This last week has seen the introduction of further government directives to combat the spread of COVID-19.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not only has our way of life changed, our social fabric has been altered in an effort to keep our community members safe.<\/p>\n<p>To date, these directives are working, with only one confirmed, and now cleared case of COVID-19 in the South Burnett region.<\/p>\n<p>I thank each and every one of you for following the Australian Government directives and your assistance to help &#8220;flatten the curve&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) remains at &#8220;Stand Up&#8221; status and continues to meet regularly to not only ensure that Queensland Health are provided support, but that the continuity of services to our community at a local level remain consistent.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of the LDMG remains on looking after the vulnerable members of our community and to lessen the impact on our society as much as possible over the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>The Human &amp; Social and Economic Sub Group of the LDMG continues to co-ordinate support to the region.<\/p>\n<p>The group is liaising with local service providers, business, industry, and support groups to obtain an understanding of what assistance is available and what short and long-term requirements will need to be addressed.<\/p>\n<p>It is absolutely critical that we engage with our local support groups and industry to ensure that the community, as a whole, remains informed, is given assistance when required and remains positive and calm.<\/p>\n<p>The sub-group is collating a comprehensive Re-Supply Plan for the entire South Burnett region to assist with future service delivery if required.<\/p>\n<p>The plan, divided into individual towns, provides a synopsis of services and suppliers for items such as groceries, medical supplies, take away outlets and contractors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key messages for our community include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Health Recommendations<\/strong> &#8211; Community members are reminded to follow hygiene and social distancing recommendations: correct handwashing practices, keeping a distance of 1.5 metres between you and others &#8211; but stay connected, avoiding handshakes, considering whether outings or travel are necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Health Direction<\/strong> &#8211; Queensland Health has issued a Home Confinement Direction which applies to all residents of Queensland. Further information is available <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.qld.gov.au\/system-governance\/legislation\/cho-public-health-directions-under-expanded-public-health-act-powers\/home-confinement-direction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online<\/a><\/strong>. All people must stay in their homes except for:\n<ul>\n<li>Shopping for essentials &#8211; food and necessary supplies;<\/li>\n<li>Medical or health care needs, including compassionate requirements;<\/li>\n<li>Exercise with no more than one other person (unless from your household);<\/li>\n<li>Providing care or assistance to an immediate family member;<\/li>\n<li>Work and study if you can\u2019t work or learn remotely.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Essential services<\/strong> \u2013 Essential services continue across all government agencies in the South Burnett.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hospital Visitations<\/strong> \u2013 Local hospitals are introducing visitor restrictions to ensure the safety of patients. Please contact your local hospital in the first instance to ascertain what visiting hours are available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Assistance<\/strong> &#8211; For further information, assistance and important links I encourage you to stay in touch with Council\u2019s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.southburnett.qld.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0This site will be updated as information is released.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Local Support<\/strong> &#8211; For those that can, please support your local businesses. It cannot be stressed enough just how important it is to support our local businesses where we can, either by purchasing takeaways, buying your meat from the local butcher, and purchasing your fruit and vegetables from our small businesses. These businesses are doing it tough not just physically but mentally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Last one is how can you help!<\/strong> Remember to pick up the phone and check on your family, friends and neighbours during this time of crisis. Qld Health has introduced a &#8220;self-quarantine assistance card&#8221; so you can help those around you.Whether it\u2019s picking up milk for a friend or buying a few extra groceries for your elderly neighbour, these cards might be a lifeline for someone in need.
