Another 55 people have tested positive to COVID-19 in Queensland, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the State to 743.<\/p>\n

Health Minister Steven Miles said 65 of these cases were in hospital, including seven in intensive care.<\/p>\n

“Five of them are currently being ventilated,” Mr Miles said.<\/p>\n

More than 40,000 Queenslanders are either in quarantine or isolation.<\/p>\n

Mr Miles said 46,845 people in Queensland had been tested for COVID-19 – with just 1.6 per cent of tests coming back positive.<\/p>\n

In the Darling Downs Health region, there are 31 cases, up three from yesterday.<\/p>\n

In the Wide Bay Health region, there are now 18 cases – an increase of one.<\/p>\n

The largest number of cases continue to be in the Metro North region (205), Metro South (180), Gold Coast (147) and Sunshine Coast (72).<\/p>\n

Nationally, 266 new cases have been identified since yesterday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At 6:30am on Tuesday, there were 4359 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia.<\/p>\n

The most cases were in NSW (2032) followed by Victoria (821).<\/p>\n

The vast majority of cases were either acquired overseas or acquired locally from someone who had returned from overseas.<\/p>\n
