March 23, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

The business closures foreshadowed by Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Sunday night to slow the spread of COVID-19 became law in Queensland at noon on Monday.<\/p>\n

The orders were made by Queensland\u2019s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, under the Public Health Act 2005 (Qld).<\/p>\n

The non-essential businesses required to stop operating or operate under new restrictions are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Type of Business <\/strong><\/td>\nFrom noon on Monday, March 23<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Registered and licensed clubs, licensed premises in hotels, including sporting clubs<\/td>\nMust close<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Indoor gyms, fitness centres and\u00a0sporting centres<\/td>\nMust close<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Cinemas<\/td>\nMust close<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Gambling venues including casinos, nightclubs theatres and entertainment venues of any kind<\/td>\nMust close<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Theme parks<\/td>\nMust close<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
A place where persons congregate for the purpose of worship or fellowship, including weddings and baptisms<\/td>\nMust close<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Funerals<\/td>\nLimited to one person per 4 square metres and social distancing must be accommodated including keeping 1.5 metres between people.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Restaurants, cafes, fast-food outlets, food courts (together retail food services)<\/td>\nRestricted to takeaway or hotel room service<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Retail food services that continue to operate must follow the below provisions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Social distancing, including keeping 1.5 metres between people must be accommodated, implemented and monitored by employees or contractors of the retail food service provider<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Gathering for the purposes of ordering or collecting must not exceed one person per 4 square metres<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • The retail food service provider may only operate to the extent they are not promoting or facilitating persons consuming takeaway food or drink on or adjacent to their premises<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
