Kingaroy Police are warning motorists that when “Road Closed” signs are in place, under no circumstances should these roads be entered.<\/p>\n

“Water over the road may be accompanied by broken or washed-away roadways,” a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n

“Motorists need to adhere to speed limits, road closures, other signs and drive to the conditions.<\/p>\n

“Police advise that there will be zero tolerance and enforcement action will occur where offences are detected.”<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Police urge drivers to take careful note of all road signage that has been erected by Council as many South Burnett roads have sustained considerable damage during the recent flood event.<\/p>\n

Extensive repair work is being undertaken and Council has erected signage warning drivers of hazards and changed traffic conditions.<\/p>\n

“For your own safety, if it’s flooded, forget it!” the spokesman said.<\/p>\n

Driving through “No Entry” or “Road Closed” signs is not only an offence, it can be very dangerous as a recent incident at Maryborough demonstrates.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Late last month, a \u00a023-year-old man had to be rescued after he allegedly drove around a “no entry” sign sometime after midnight.<\/p>\n

His vehicle became submerged in floodwaters and he was forced to climb onto the roof.<\/p>\n

He was rescued about 6:30am the following morning and charged with drink driving, driving unlicensed, and driving through no entry signs.<\/p>\n
