Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will temporarily close all libraries and art galleries\u00a0from the close of business on Monday (March 23) until further notice.<\/p>\n

The Milne Bay Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Highfields Fitness and Recreation Centre and Toowoomba City Community Rooms will also be closed.<\/p>\n

CEO Brian Pidgeon said the decision to close the facilities was based on government advice and community expectations.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring this unprecedented event, we must abide by the advice given to us by the State and Federal Governments,\u201d Mr Pidgeon said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil apologises for any inconvenience these temporary closures may cause.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil is not removing the service, the closures are in response to community sentiment and our number one priority during this difficult time, the health and wellbeing of our community and staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve already seen a reduction in volunteers and attendances at these facilities and our staff will continue to monitor the evolving situation. Council will communicate any further changes to services through Council\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
