Toowoomba Regional Council facilities will remain open and continue to operate for business as usual at this stage, pending advice from the Federal and State Governments.<\/p>\n

CEO Brian Pidgeon said the decision was based on advice provided by the government and community expectations.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point, our gyms, pools, libraries, cultural centres and facilities will remain open and available for community use,\u201d Mr Pidgeon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn saying this, we recognise how rapidly the situation is evolving and will be reviewing the decision to keep these facilities open on a day-by-day basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile they will remain open, some of the programs at our facilities, such as library activities, will be cancelled temporarily.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve already seen a reduction in volunteers and participant numbers at these programs and our staff will continue to monitor the evolving situation. Council will communicate any changes to programs via Council\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring this unprecedented event, it\u2019s crucial we abide by the advice given to us by the State and Federal Governments.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe number one priority for us during this difficult time is the health and wellbeing of our community.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs such, we have increased cleaning and hygiene services at all our public facilities and continue to ask our residents to always follow hygiene guidelines whether at home or attending public places. This includes covering mouth and disposing of tissues properly, practising social distancing and avoiding physical contact, such as shaking hands.<\/p>\n
