The Nanango community has pitched in for the second time in just four weeks to help clean up Nanango State School following flooding.<\/p>\n

The call went out on Facebook on Saturday for people to roll-up from 5:30am yesterday to help with a clean-up after floodwaters reached the about the same height as the Australia Day weekend.<\/p>\n

“Water went into the sensory motor room and prep sheds,” principal Lyal Giles wrote.<\/p>\n

There was also fencing knocked down.<\/p>\n

“We need wheelbarrows, rakes, pressure cleaners and shovels,” Lyal’s Facebook post read. “If you can help us clean up tomorrow that would be great.”<\/p>\n

And roll-up they did …<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said she was overwhelmed by the community effort to make sure the school was ready for students today.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was such a pleasure to meet everyone down at Nanango State School to help with the clean-up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were about 30 community members, parents and staff working hard to tidy up the school and even though this was the second time the school\u2019s been flooded in just four weeks, it was terrific to see such amazing community resilience.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to congratulate the principal, Lyal Giles, and his staff for co-ordinating the effort and for showing such commitment to their school.\u201d .<\/p>\n

Lyal was also grateful on Facebook: \u00a0“Thanks to everyone that helped out and offered their support. The outside of the buildings, the fences and paths are all clean and ready for school. I am very grateful of a wonderful community and the constant help that is provided to our school community. ”<\/p>\n
